About the reduction1x1 & LPG

Hi ! Thank you for your provide the open source code. I have some questions about the reduction1x1 and LPG:

1. Why polar angles are limited in the range of 0 to pi/3 in the reduction1x1?
   
2. Why the normalized result of u and v are not between 0 and 1 in the local planar guidance ?
