Rig-Control on Mac M2 with SDRplay & Yaesu FTDX-1200

To avoid headaches for programmers, users should be aware that they need to have the correct CAT Cable. Most of them will NOT work. One more tip: Menu 041 in the FTDX-1200 is “RTS”. Set it to DISABLE

This is the only cable I have found so far that actually changes the frequency of my Yaesu HAM rig.
Software used: CubicSDR version 0.2.8-4-Darwin-Arm64
Computer: Apple Macbook M2 with MacOS Sonoma
SDR box: SDRplay model RSP1B
Sure I had to use a gender changer, but it works!

I have tried USB > Serialport adapters that do not work for this application and/ or rig.
FTDI chipset doesn’t work.
SiLabs chipset didn’t work.
Gearmo USB > RS-232 cable didn’t work either

BUT, I HAVE found TWO that do work:

  1. DriverGenius USB to RS232 Adapter with the Prolific Chipset.

  1. RTsystems (they make software & cables for programming HT’s etc.)
Their model USB-63 cable. Here’s a link to their site. It states specifically that it works with Yaesu’s.

Details on WHY most others don’t work involve incorrect voltages sent to the rig:

I hope this helps, because it sure helped me, and I just wanted to share back!
