Invalid module format

Just compiled this today and disabled secured boot. When trying to load the module with:
sudo insmod 88x2bu.ko
I get the error:
insmod: ERROR: could not insert module 88x2bu.ko: Invalid module format
Compile was clean with no errors or warnings other than the version of gcc used to compile the kernel differing by 0.01

I recompiled, for some reason did not get that warning, and now it works.
