type beyond EOL and moving back breaks redrawing

Typing beyond end of line, ending up on a new line and then moving back with C-b or M-b screws up the redrawing. The input line keeps moving up the screen (!).
Any updates on this one? Issue is still present.
Seems chzyer/readline is no longer maintained. I moved to https://github.com/peterh/liner myself for the project in question above (but I no longer know how maintained liner is either). Unsubscribing.
