High CPU / Periodic Crashes on CM12 / Android L

I have a lot of problems with TweetLanes since i upgraded to Android L (CM12 nightly, across pretty much any nightly i tried so far). TweetLanes is the only App that shows this behaviour, that's why i'm raising an issue here and not with them.

Even when i'm not doing anything in the app, it uses a lot of CPU. When i open an image, it often crashes the whole phone (not just FC'ing the app!).

Is there anything that i can do to help triage this problem?

I made two screenshots of the Load Average / CPU Usage that comes with android's dev tools:

I didn't run TweetLanes long enough for the load to actually increase (oftentimes TL will crash after 1-2 minutes), but the load increases steadily once it's open.

Same problem here on a OnePlus One and a Nexus 4 with the official Lollipop ROMs. Does not occur every time, but happens mostly (or maybe only) in conjuction with non loading avatar images. Sucks 10% battery in 10 minutes scrolling through 200 Tweets and gets slower and slower along the way. And the phone gets really warm then.

Had this issue on CM12.1 on both Xperia M and a Moto G. But no such issues now on AOSP on both.
