Could be good to provide a bridge between the simple static thing and enabling it to be powered by dynamic services. Ideally there shouldn't be any real difference, but a dynamic one might want some additional fields like storageCrs and the array of CRS options, that just don't make sense if you're linking to a single file that isn't rendering dynamically.
