2 levels of requirements?

Features API Collection just requires two fields.
Keeping things minimal for an API is great, but if this is intended to be the main metadata for a spatial layer, to be used in record searches, then it seems like it'd be nice to have a larger set of required fields, to make sure people are filling out enough to be searched.
Perhaps there's two levels of complaince, with two different JSON schemas.
