autologin does not work with RHEL 9.0/9.1 and Alma 9.0/9.1

Autologin no longer works with Alma/RHEL 9.*
Even though the [SeatDefaults] is correctly set , still the display manager pops up after reboot.
Configuration used :
cat /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
[SeatDefaults]
autologin-user=username
autologin-user-timeout=0

I have also tried with this file :
/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/12-autologin.conf
but it still did not work and still display manager pops up.
