Add documentation how to support custom pre-commit-hooks

Is there a simple way to augment the pre-commits that pre-commit-hooks can install?
I was browsing the documentation + source and couldn't figure it out.
It would be great if that was an option so that I'm not restricted to the set (albeit large) offered here.
I must have missed the README section :(
I'll close and try it.
