Optional fake "Reveal" effect for selectors

In practice, this will just be a gradient across the selection. I will probably start with the sub-menu and non-curved selectors.
This will probably be similar to the final look:
Not very noticeable, but I think it could look better than the default.
Here's what it will look like. Again, subtle, but I think it adds a nice touch.
