Panelization - pcbmode output does not work with gerbmerge

Does anybody has a good solution for panelization of several different pcbmode boards?
I looked into gerbmerge (and its many forks) - but I can't get the parser to work with the pcbmode output. They do they that the parser is kind of hacky, so I think it might be a gerbmerge problem rather then a pcbmode issue.
The first issue was that gerbmerge does not like the Aperture Definition Modifier in the pcbmode output. I fixed that and got further but got lost in all the following errors.
Is there any other solution to this?
