Migrate to Python 2.7

The code is Python 2.7 compatible, however I have difficulties to install Python GTK libs under virtualenv (virtualenv is needed and preferred to future. On RHEL 6 only Python 2,.6 is supported. Probably still the case for many Linux installations)
