In style guides you typically see different layout pages, so I think it would be a good idea to include a link to another page with a super simple demo layout
I agree that a section to demo layouts is valuable to a style guide. Though I feel providing layouts with the boilerplate may make users feel limited. I'd prefer developers to build their own layouts with their own grid systems and add them to the style guide themselves rather than providing default ones with the boilerplate. SGB is more about providing a solid foundation without assuming too much. It lets you build on top of it the things you need.
