Pre-release and stable versions mixed?

Perkolator opened this issue · comments

Steps To Reproduce

This is rather weird but it seems that the pre-release and stable versions are mixed.

I was notified of an update to the app, the offered version seems to be 2025.1.0. That is labeled as a pre-release here in github. As far as I know, I have installed the stable from Google Play store.

Now, the current installed version in my phone is 2024.6.2, which is AGAIN marked as a pre-release here in github.

There's one release between these two versions, 2024.12.0, which is marked as a "latest" (stable). This version has NOT been offered to my phone from Google Play store.

So, what's going on with the versions/releases?

Expected Result

Stable releases should be offered through Google Play. (And are github releases marked correctly as stable/pre-release?)

Actual Result

Google Play store seems to offer only pre-release versions currently.

Hi @Perkolator

2025.1.0 was only made available yesterday. It being marked as a pre-release in GitHub was likely unintentional. It has since been corrected and marked as a stable release.

As for availability in Google Play, I do see 2025.1.0 is ready to download on my devices and Google Play is reporting that it is being slowly adopted by other uses. I suggesting waiting a little longer to see if you receive the update. Also, double check that you have automatic updates enabled. If you do not want to wait for Google Play to push the update you can also download and install the latest version from GitHub.

2024.12.0 rollout was halted shortly after release, which would explain why you never received that update.

I'm closing this ticket as resolved since 2025.1.0 is now correctly marked as the latest stable release and I've confirmed the rollout is still in progress. If you have not received the update in the next 24 hours let us know and we can investigate further.

I wrote that that was the version Play store seems to offer now, and it was the case, verified after I updated. It seems that there was a miscommunication about this.

Ahh, ok. Weird that it was left in github as "latest" (stable), and no mention of it being pulled back.

Anyways, thanks for the info!

Apologies! I misread. Coffee hasn't fully kicked in yet this morning. 😅

I'm glad you're able to update. I've gone back and marked 2024.12.0 as a pre-release to hopefully prevent confusion in the future.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention. 🖖
