Update ERIN build with compiler flags from Athenium

Problem
We're not using the latest understanding on compiler flags from shared knowledge in the company.
Proposed Solution
Use the compiler flags from Athenium and bring them into this project.
Things to check:
- run benchmarks before and after the compiler flags change
- on Mac
- on Windows
