Fails to copy to clipboard

GoogleCodeExporter opened this issue · comments

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Select text
2. Copy (either ctrl-C, or right-click > copy)
3. Attempt to paste, either within gwrite or in another program.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
* Sometimes the selected text has not been copied, and whatever was already in
the clipboard is pasted instead. Repeating the attempt usually doesn't help.
* Sometimes, the clipboard is blanked, and nothing is pasted.
* Sometimes it works correctly.
I can sometimes get different results by switching to a different tab and
trying to copy from a different document.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
 0.5.1 on Debian Squeeze.

Please provide any additional information below.

It might be relevant that I have 8 tabs open in gwrite. I just tried a couple
of times opening one file only, and it worked fine.

I've experimented and discovered the following:
* Saving the file before I copy or cut will often lead to a successful copy/cut
and paste. If I've edited the file since the last save, then it seems to be
guaranteed or almost guaranteed that the text will fail to be copied to the
clipboard.
* If I have multiple files open, and saving the current file still doesn't lead
to successful copying to clipboard, then first saving every file in the current
window may help.
* Sometimes even that doesn't work, even after I try repeatedly, and the only
way to continue working with the file is to open it in another program. (This
is frustrating as there are features in gwrite that I like to use.)
