Document JSON configuration inheritance

Is there a way to inherit / override configuration? I want to have a common config at a library root, then for each project I want to have a specific barrel that would be added.
Every time I need to make a change to the barrelsby config I have to do it in multiple places right now, i'd like to avoid that if possible
Just found another thread with an open feature request stating that the extends keyword should work in these json files.
If that's the case, could the documentation be updated to give an example of that?
