Adaptation does not occur while the lamp is on

Tomer-Isr opened this issue · comments

Not long ago I noticed that the lamps that were turned on did not adjust the brightness, although just recently everything was working. For example, a lamp is on, its brightness is 75, I turn it off and immediately turn it on and the brightness adapts to 50 percent. But if I leave the light on, the brightness does not decrease. Adapts only when switching on and off.

I also see somewhat the same behaviour!
No automatic sun brightness adjustments since one of the updates…

Hi, Perhaps after updating HA or some other time the setting went wrong, it says something like adapt only when turned on. After I selected false, all the lamps began to change color as needed. сб, 9 дек. 2023 г., 09:37 kevindebosscher @.>:

Do you have a screen shot perhaps?
Tried everything but still not operating like before 😔

That setting is off for me and the issue is still occurring. The lights only actually update from calling the service.

I started using adaptive lighting a few weeks ago and it has been a problem ever since.

I'm posting this as it might provide some ideas as to a solution. It may be a complete red herring. I am using a docker installation of Home Assistant.

Adaptive lighting was working. Then earlier this week I updated Home Assistant from 2023.5 -> 2023.1.3, amd adaptive lighting to 1.20 (not sure what the old version was)

Adaptive lighting stopped updating the lights while they were on.

Things I did afterwards:

  1. Reverted Adaptive lighting to 1.18.3 (I still had the problem)
  2. Updated Home Assistant to 2024.1.5
  3. Fixed all errors that appeared in the HA logs as a result of various breaking changes (lots of things are configured via yaml).

At that point, adaptive lighting was working again.

Maybe related, while adaptive lighting wasn't updating lights I also noticed having HA check my config for errors never completed. Also trying to restart HA from within HA never did anything. I could check it 30 minutes after requesting the restart and see that it had been up for 5 hours.

I have not yet convinced myself to try adaptive lighting 1.20 again.

Unfortunately too much changed for me to really narrow down the exact cause and solution.

Edit:

This is even more confusing now. Adaptive lighting definitely started updating the color temperature again. But it fails to update the brightness at night.
