continuity issues with 11.2.3 on late 2012 imac

I'm not sure if this is problem with the wifi/bluetooth support, or just some screwy with my config, but continuity stuff is not working as I think it's supposed to on this imac. Some things work, such as text copied on my iphone is able to be pasted in the imac, but the reverse does not work. Copying text on a 2019 MBP is able to be pasted on the iphone, for comparison.

Also, continuity camera doesn't seem to work. If I open notes.app on a newer MBP, I can go to File -> Insert from iPhone or iPad, and then take a picture or something. This is with a MBP connected via ethernet, and the wifi on, but not connected to any network. Attempting the same on the 2012 iMac shows only a few greyed out options (see attached pictures).

If these problems are related to the wifi support, would replacing the current wifi module (BCM94331) with a BCM94360 solve the issue?

Forgot the pictures.

Same with late iMac 2013! In Lightroom and some other photo editors "Show in finder" doesn't work but has in 11.2.2 (it means you can right click on a photo and from the context menu you can select show in finder to show the image directly in finder).

Yes, to enable HandOff and Continuity with Micropatcher and the BCM94331 you would need to move to the later version 0.5.4 of the (iMac) micropatcher and use the --whitelist option on patching (this would enable both). This has not been implemented in this version.

But I would recommend your move over to OCLP instead. There this should work out of the box with no further patching.

Is it even possible for me to move to OCLP without doing a complete reinstall?

You can create an USB installer (unpatched!!!!) with the same Big Sur version and install it over the existing installation on your internal disk. This works according to other user reports.

Tried several times with OCLP 0.0.22 but booted into recovery mode in a loop, only installing Yosemite on an external SSD...

I ended up replacing the BCM94331 with a BCM94360, and now my handoff stuff works as expected. I was going to go with a software solution, but then I realized I had to open this imac up again because I forgot to reconnect the left speaker when I was replacing my SSD 🤦
