Add 1920x1080 HiDPI mode?

This isn’t an RDM issue. You can enable 1920 × 1200 HiDPI on a 13” MBP by following the instructions in this reddit comment. Just note that since that comment was written (not by me), the location of the relevant files has changed to /System/Library/Displays/Content/Resources/Overrides/

This would be an awesome feature

I followed the reddit instructions and it wont let me delete or edit the file even with sudo rights or change the group permissions on the file.

Welcome to the wonderful world of SIP. I’d recommend turning it back on when you’re done.

@Noleli Hi,
I have followed the guide on reddit (or better to say on tonymacx86), after doing so I can see my hipdi resolutions on rdm but clicking on those makes no effect on screen resolution.
I have tried to click with option key on system preferences but there are no hipdi settings available. I am sure that hipdi was enabled via terminal command. What can I do? Thanks.

You’re talking about a 13” MacBook Pro with a retina display? Once you follow the instructions and select 1920 × 1200 HiDPI you won’t see anything change size compared to 1920 × 1200; it’ll just become sharper. If your eyes aren’t quite good, you may not notice a difference.

Nicely done, @usr-sse2! Next time I do an OS update that reverts the plist edits, I’ll definitely use this fork.
