v2.5 can't be opened?

Getting this error when trying to open the latest 2.5 release on a new MBP Monterrey:
“MiddleClick” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.
Any ideas?

Install it with:
brew install --cask --no-quarantine middleclick
(it's in the Readme)
I'm having the same problem. What I tried is:
right click on MiddleClick
Get Info
Override malware protection
However, that didn't help me either -- when I tried to open the app, it says "The application 'MiddleClick' can't be opened."
Tried to delete it & install it with brew (the preferred way, described in repo's README) -- no success again.
Please, help us fix this somehow, as I can't live without this app, literally...
