Peak search /Peak detector logic implemented in IIO-oscilloscope

Dear Sir;
I want to learn the peak search algorithm implemented in iio-oscilloscope.Although the complete source code is available but I need the particular literature regarding peak search algorithm. I am beginner to learn this code. But I am unable to understand the GTK stuff.
