The utils don't have corresponding tests and the workflow is missing test execution.

@sonudoo These are meant as easily accessible, standalone, drop-in utilities. I felt that adding tests would required setting it up as a project, leading to needless clutter. Any counter-arguments or suggestions avoiding that clutter while still accomplishing testing welcome!
