It's not very sensitive?! How to get better scan results. (ALFA AWUS036ACH)

I got this ALFA AWUS036ACH and set it up via the git driver. I get scan results, but compared to scanning with my built in laptop radio I'm not seeing any more AP or clients when doing surveys. Am I scanning too fast? The antennas are supposed to be 5dbi gain and yet screen antennas are stealing the show.
I don't need high power, I need high sensitivity. Is there some issue with RSSI in the driver or something I can do like lower TX power or slow down the scanning?
