Parameters/ Buffers formats

I wanted to know if there is a documentation on what formats the buffer attributes of the STAR class use ? (e.g. how are the 'faces' stored ? or the 'kintree_table' (I guess giving the position of joints) ? or even the vertices parameter verts). (I want to fit the model to the point cloud of a body using optimization.)

I also wanted to ask why the variable used to fill the buffers is called smpl_model although it is from the config file of a STAR model ?
