problem "installing" upm 1.13 on Mac OS

WolfgangFahl opened this issue · comments

Downloading upm-mac-1.13.tar.gz extracting the contents with tar xvfz and copying "upm" to the program folder leads to a message that upm is broken and should be moved to the garbage bin on Mac OS Mavericks . I had to revert to upm 1.11 to continue.

Try this, from http://upm.sourceforge.net/upm_swing_userguide.html#osx_problem_running:

On downloading and running UPM on OS X you may get this error "UPM is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to trash". There isn't a problem with UPM. It's just OS X's security settings. To resolve the problem,

  • Open System Preferences
  • Open Security & Privacy
  • If the lock in the bottom left of this window is closed click it to unlock the settings
  • Under "Allow applications downloaded from" select "Anywhere"
  • Try opening the version of UPM that was failing previously. If all goes well it should work now.

You can reset "Allow applications downloaded from" to what it was previously. OS X will remember that it's safe to open UPM.
