Can this be done over WAN or it’s just LAN?

Generally-speaking, this is just a LAN attack, as it requires relayed connections from ntlmrelayx.py. That said, it is technically possible to relay NTLM connections over the public internet, but how you get those relayed connections would be up to you. 😉
