Asif Ahmed Neloy
Asif Ahmed Neloy is a Lecturer at the Dept of Computing Studies and Information Systems, Douglas College. Asif is an expert Academian and Data Science professional specializing in Machine Learning and Deep Learning, passionate about uncovering insights from complex data. With a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Manitoba, Asif has extensive experience in machine learning tools, including data structures, clustering and classification, natural language processing, and unravelling business decisions.
Before attending UofM, Asif received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and Engineering (BS CSE, specialization- Artificial Intelligence) from North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh (considered the best private University in Bangladesh). Asif is currently engaged in both industry and academia, serving as Teaching Assistant and Marker at the Dept of Computer Science and Dept of Statistics at the, University of Manitoba and Data and Business Specialist at the Forum Inc. Aside from serving at the UofM Dimension Reduction Lab, he was appointed as a Graduate Trainee at the NSERC Create The Visual and Automated Disease Analytics (VADA) Program. His master of science dissertation titled "Disentangled conditional variational autoencoder for unsupervised anomaly detection" was supervised by Dr. Maxime Turgeon and Dr. CÜNEYT AKÇORA.
Asif's multidisciplinary research area encompasses a broad domain of Supervised and Unsupervised Machine Learning. He is particularly interested in problems related to Probabilistic and Bayesian Modeling, Anomaly Detection, Dimension Reduction, and interdisciplinary applications of Auto-Encoders. Currently, Asif is working on modelling Auto-Encoders and algorithms related to Variational and Gaussian modelling . Part of his research focuses on Statistical interpretation and visualization of Unsupervised Machine Learning algorithms for dimension reduction and anomaly detection. Also, Asif is designing interactive python packages for Data Engineering, such as Data Cleaning, Data Visualization, Model Interpretation, Selecting Data Scalers, and Statistical Analysis.
