Add build & install instructions to the readme

The readme talks about installing the server and client, but doesn't actually say how. I'm guessing that installation requires building. It would be very useful to have build and installation instructions in the readme.
The project is not in a complete state, and would not be usable as-is without more work. The README is a "target to eventually do", not an accurate description of its current state.
