It looks as though everything is being multiplied by a huge factor, or gamma, or something. Maybe it's this newfangled scRGB color space.
Worked fine in buster and jammy, but broken in bookworm, I suppose something changed in libvips42.
This can be fixed by upgrading sharp from ^0.30.7 to ^0.31.0. We depend on this indirectly via @basemaps/sprites. They've updated in git (linz/basemaps#2979), we just need to wait for an npm release.
