can't remotely connect to the device

I can connect to all my switches when I'm on same wi-fi network but it doesn't work outside my network/remotely.
This was working before. Is it to do with one of the recent updates Apple rolled out to address HomeKit vulnerability or incompatibility with updated HomeBridge?
