Domain Block List

opened this issue · comments

Hi,
Is there anyway you will consider adding a domain list that includes the domains VPN companies use ? It will be much easier to block at the DNS level.

This wouldn't make much sense, as many configs for VPNs have IP addresses hard coded. Bypassing the need to look up the DNS record.

blocking by ip address will be the best option ?

I think the question is once again, what are you trying to accomplish.

i'm trying to block these ip addresses to prevent VPN connection on my network (kind of parental control)

Honestly, I wouldn't suggest what you are trying to do. Unless this is a known problem, or you already have issues with it. I think you might create more issues than they are worth. If the child is old enough, and they have a will... their will be away to circumvent these blocks.

Using Ad Guard on a browser itself will provide you no protection. Since the VPN will likely be installed on the device itself and not running in the browser. If they are using an online proxy site, those will likely not be included.

If you still want to continue, figure out what format your router accepts. I personally would use: https://github.com/X4BNet/lists_vpn/blob/main/output/vpn/ipv4.txt list, and not the other one. This is because the other one includes hosting providers, which will block many online services. Once you figure out the format your router will take, you can create your own config file for it.
