Old issue reported in 2016 but still valid:
The option "Default Thread Subscription Mode" is ignored by XDA Labs. I have the option set to "Instant email notification" (please check my screenshot) and posting with XDA Labs in an unsubscribed thread doesn't subscribe to it.
