Sent message is not received

A sent message is not received by receiver, but on the device it shows with one checkmark (that should mean that it is received by Whatsapp server). Messages sent in this chat after that will be delivered just fine with two check marks, but the problematic message will still be with one checkmark.
Has anyone else experience this?
After receiving status 2 (one checkmark), retry is fired but nothing happens after
