[HL25] WON-style main menu for Half-Life expansions, CS1.6 etc

sabianroberts opened this issue · comments

With the HL25 update came a new look main menu, however this means that all the HL1 expansions and spin-offs are misrepresentative of their originals.

This is how a reskinned CS1.6 could look on the HL25 update to match CS1.5 on WON:

Counter-Strike 1.6 after the 25th anniversary update Exe build: 16:07:20 Nov 29 2023 (9897) now has the same main menu sound from Half-Life. It would be ideal if they could bring back the nostalgic sound of Counter-Strike for the main menu.

If they do, i hope they make it optional since i prefer the current version of the menu (and i'm not alone in this).

+1

They need to fix the menus for the rest of their GoldSrc games and mods, a temporary fix:

This has fixes for Half-Life, Opposing Force, Blue-Shift, a 1.5 cs menu reskin, Team Fortress Classic and Deathmatch Classic. The expansions are missing animated logos and the cs menu could probably just remain the way it is now without this fix, minus some small text font adjustments and adding hint texts next to each button.

@Maxi605 I was mostly referring to the sound of the menu, both games HL & CS have the exact same main menu sound on menu open and close, not sure if this is by design. Although, I've discovered that you can change the sound by adding a launch_dnmenu1.wav and launch_selectmenu.wav to cstrike\sound\UI (need to create the folder if it does not exist).
