it worked fine with 3.13.20 ( the fsr bug wasnt present there )
When I execute something using gamescope I usually perform it like this:
gamescope -H 1200 -W 1920 -w 1200 -h 800 -f -F nis -- <command>
I am using nis right now as I am struck with the fsr fullscreen bug as well.
Now here's the weird thing.
When I execute something right now gamescope-wl immediately crashes.

Hmm, I'm unable to repro this on my ROG Ally on Nobara 40 with gamescope 3.14.18, also Plasma 6, although it is one generation newer than your chipset. Are there any games that I should be looking at in particular? I've only done gamescope -H 1080 -W 1920 -w 1280 -h 720 -f -F nis -- vkcube so far
Sadly no those are exactly the cases im testing.
I explicitly tested just using vkcube to exclude any game behaving weird.
Honestly I've got no idea whats wrong.
I upgraded my device from N37 up to N40 and never had any trouble.
My device basically contains just vanilla N40 and the only other package I installed is dotnet-sdk-8.0.
That being said gamescope began behaving weird since 3.14.0. ( e.g FSR being invisible ).
I used to downgrade to the 3.13.20 of your copr but thats not built for N40
I am at a customers place for the next two days and didnt bring my device with me ( cant play Dragon quest XI S without gamescope upscaling ).
I always apply the EDID override ( https://wiki.darkremix.net/aokzoe/ChimeraOS-Guide ), maybe that one doesnt work with N40 anymore.
I cant tell whether 3.13.20 still works using that setup or not, I'll keep this topic updated in that case

I'm pretty sure gamescope does some additional edid wizardry of its own thats newer than the guide was written since the wayland backend refactor was committed around 3.14.0

I tried to change the resolution to 1200x800 and now the screen just remains black even accross reboots.
