Stretched resolution unplayable

Fedora 40 (GNOME desktop)
I play stretched resolution 1280x960 (Fullscreen, 4:3) on a 16:9 monitor and since one of the latest updates it has become unplayable because vertical mouse movement is broken. When moving the mouse up or down at first nothing happens but after some distance the crosshair is jumping to another vertical spot and stays there. This repeats with further movement.
I fixed it by playing with my native resolution. Before I also tried a different mouse just to rule this out.
Not sure if it´s the same because earlier (about a week ago at max) it was working.
