CS2 quits unexpectedly

Your system information

  • Steam client version: 1714854927 (Fri, May 3 20:11 UTC -08:00)
  • Distribution: Void Linux (amd64, glibc)
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: no

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

The game quits shortly after loading the "lobby" environment - i just wait a couple of seconds. It always happens. Sometimes it happens when attempting to enter any match. It started happening on May 9th.

I'm on Void Linux with the Xfce desktop (v4.18). Steam comes from the Void-packaged xbps package.

The logs attached were collected after reproducing the problem twice.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Launch CS2, it will get to the "lobby" scene.
  2. Wait a few seconds, and it should crash.
  3. Or go ahead and start a casual or arms race match - it should crash during the loading screen or at the T/CT selection.

Things I've tried

  • Verified the game files

Hello @o-alquimista, can you check if https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/3343 is relevant to your system? A quick test would be to reboot into an older kernel.

Yes, that looks very much like what I'm experiencing here. I'm running kernel 6.6.30_1. I'll try an older kernel.

Good thing the problem is already fixed upstream.

I have confirmed it works as expected on kernel 6.6.29. Closing.

I just received kernel 6.6.31, which solves this problem.
