Get-EsxCli Warning
googleface opened this issue · comments
Hi Tony,
I'm having issues running this against a VC 5.5 box, I'm receiving this warning and the Export-VMHostInfo doesn't appear to be completing, it just sits there, unless it can take a large amount of time to complete? I did leave it about 20 mins and have a fairly small environment.
Do I need to amend the script to include the -V2 switch for this to work please?
PowerShell Version: 5.1.16299.1146
PowerCLI Version: 6.5 Release 1 build 4624819
vCenter Version: 5.5.0 / Build 4180647
Thanks
Scott
Also, please run powershell as administrator when attempting to run vDiagram.
Hi Tony, I have stopped the script and have an empty VMHosts CSV, I am running Powershell as an admin. Thx
Can you try to run a Set-PowerCLIConfiguration -InvalidCertificateAction Ignore
googleface I'm going to try to spin up a 5.5 lab later today but I suspect jtrainmar (Jason) will be looking into this as well. He is one of the co-authors and should be able to also assist. I'm at VMworld this week so my availability is going to be hit or miss.
@jtrainmar my mistake I had 2 sessions open, 1 wasn't an admin, I can run Set-PowerCLIConfiguration -InvalidCertificateAction Ignore successfully and I am trying to re-run the script again, it still appears to be taking some time though, only 28 hosts on this VC, how long should that take to run roughly please? appreciate your prmpt responses guys...
It's been running 10 mins now the VMhost csv isn't growing in size.
28 hosts will take some time to run the full collection, we have had some in testing take hours to complete.
ok thanks, I will be more patient and let you know how it goes.
Patience is a virtue :-) it's looking better, apologies for premature issue creation, will let you know if I come accross any further issues.
Patience is definitely needed sometimes. It can take quite a long time to complete, depending on the environment, but we believe it is definitely worth the wait.
There are a couple of oddity's there.
- Do you have any Distributed Switches and Port Groups? Based on what this is showing is that you do have Distributed Switches but nothing under them.
- Are you using DRS? If you have a lot of rules this could take a bit to pull the data.
Remember the larger the environment the larger it will take to run. Also verify that you have not been disconnected from the vCenter.
Hi Tony, I just checked that, no DS's at all, all standard switches and their is only 1 cluster with DRS enabled, let me re-run it.
Hi Tony, it's still sticking on Export DRS Cluster Group Info, it's not creating the csv.
HI Tony, I have managed to export all the csv apart from the drs ones and the Linked Mode one. I have started the draw visio but it's stuck on create vm to host, any ideas please? Thx
It's a small environment, VM's: 458, Hosts: 28, it's been running since 08:00 U.K. time. Is that not long enough for that size of environment? Thx
I can hover over both windows but cannot get focus on them, sure not sure I can see the live errors/messages, I'll terminate it and run it again. Thx
Hi Tony, still no diagram created. Please give me a shout after VMworld has finished. Thx
