Does ULX leak location data?

More of a question since I keep hearing these rumors spread that ULX leaks location data (whatever that exactly means). I want to hear from the devs of this addon if this is true or false. If this is true, I wonder how significant this kind of issue would be. Thanks.

like... gps coordinates? absolutely not
even IPs arent stored by my knowledge

so no

See here CapsAdmin/pac3#69

I'm curious what does CapsAdmin have to do with ULX unless it was more of an example about Steam IDs/IP Addresses?

If Steam IDs the only way that ULX could leak location data, then I think that would be the least of one's worries since you could get one's Steam ID assuming they are on the same server as you are just by typing status in console on the client side.

For IP addresses, if ULX collects IP addresses, that could be an issue.

I dont think you understand steamids, steamids in NO way correlate to locations

Exactly (unless you're directing at me... I'm aware SteamID do not correlate with location though I wonder why the 3rd person in here posted something about CapsAdmin). I'm not sure why the guy who posted here after you posted that (from my quoted reply). Apparently the person just deleted their post.

In the link the person posted here before deleting, they did suggest that one could indirectly get the IP from a SteamID IF that person with the SteamID was banned on another server and that information is available in Sourcebans for example , then the IP would be listed there as well if you did do some google searching. Even then, that's not really related to ULX.

I would be more concerned with sourcebans distributing peoples IPs. Most really bad banned people will be using VPNs. Banning by IP is next to useless and has more collateral damage when ISPs rotate IPs around and you end up banning a random innocent person in the end.

ULX doesn't collect or log IP address. We give server's the OPTION to authenticate a user by IP address, but that would need to be input by the server admin. ULX doesn't store or collect IP addresses at all.
