Bug: Stremio Android TV app crashing Sony Bravia TV

I've never had this issue with my TV before, until I started using Stremio.
Inconsistently, while using the Stremio app (or having just returned to the TVs home menu) my TV will become unresponsive and freeze.
It's a Sony x900H, I'm using the native Android TV app (latest one), and streaming using RD. I reset the TV to factory and started fresh, but still have the issue until I uninstall the native Stremio app.
Casting also doesn't work for me (getting the Oops error) so I'm in a tough spot here. Curious if anyone has had the same issue.
(For now my only workaround is to use external video player on Android mobile app and cast directly to TV).
