A question regarding masked SDS loss

I'm not sure if I understand correctly this formula. If the dot product v_c • n equals one, then it must be excluded by the mask and thereby the mask will have the value 0. However, if you put 0 into x, then the result will be -3 because x_hat and f_s will be 2 and 4 each. Is this intended behavior?
