Some questions about features on the site

I was looking through the code for the website, and had a few questions about
some of the decisions that have been made so far:

Why does the mailing list signup collect first and last name? Emails sent to people
on the mailing list don't address people by their name.

You can visit /calendar while logged out, but /events is only available while
you're logged in. They both expose the same information though, so why is that?

Why does the profile page collect graduation year and major? Does it have
something to do with the attendance?

Storing resumes on the site is neat, but why is it done in the first place? Lots
of people probably already have a digital copy of their resume somewhere, and
the site doesn't say why you should upload it.

It is my understanding that the whole attendance system is used to show the
administration how many students are attending meetings and how much funding the
club should get. Does the administration require a list of names, or just a
number of people?

Lastly, on the admin page, if I wanted to make someone an admin, how would I
know their UID?

Hey, these are great questions! Rather than typing all of these answers would you be down to meet sometime? I would love to go over it all with you. Lmk if you need my email.
