Game changes to time attack and doesnt save anymore after touching objects

So this random error started to show up in sonic 2. after emerald hill, if you use or touch objects like bumpers, or the chemical plant tubes, the time that's on the hud changes from 00:00 to 00"00"00 and your game wont save anymore.
Also, sometimes after you beat an act the time attack results would show up.
Tried this with both s2 data and s2 classic data
Use the source code scripts, not the release ones.
