Using built in browser calendar widget only for mobile browsers?

I find that the use of the plugin isn't quite as slick as I'd like on a mobile. On a desktop it's great but I as our calender requirements are very simple I;m concluding it would be a nicer user experience on our site if the browsers default calendar widget appears when the user selects our date fields.

Has anyone implemented something like this ? What's the most reliable way to not activate pikaday on mobile browsers for example ?
