Sent an email out to Rick Hodsdon (rick.hodsdon@co.washington.mn.us) on Nov 5.

Got an email back later on Nov 5 indicating I had cited the wrong piece of legislation (M.S. 13.46 when I should have been citing M.S. 13.43. Responded indicating that he was correct and clarified that I wanted electronic copies of the data.

Email from Rick Hodson on 2016-11-10. He is working with various parts of the county (payroll and personnel) to find how to best process the request. I replied back indicating that job description and first-and-last date of employment can be excluded if it would expedite the request.

Heard back on 2016-11-16 from Rick. It looks like they can send the data on a disc for five dollars plus postage. I responded that I would pay for postage and asked them about how/when they wanted to be payed.

On 2016-11-17 Rick responded saying that he would get me a final cost once the disc is shipped to him. I can then send and check and advise him on where to mail it.

2016-11-30 (KJS): Sent an email out to Rick to see if there are any updates on this since it has been a while since his last response.

Got an email back from Rick. Apparently he sent an email last week that I never got. The cost of the data is $7. I told him that I would pay for it and to send it to my home address. I also requested the address and entity to send the check out to.

We need to write a check for $7.00 out to Washington County and send it to
15015 62nd Street North, Stillwater, MN 55082. Once they have gotten the check they will send us the data.

A check has been sent out.

I still have not received the data for this request. I am writing Rick to confirm that they have gotten the check.

Got an email back from Rick today. Apparently he still has not gotten the check.

Sent another email inquiring about the status, asking if he received his check yet. If he hadn't I'm going to see if there is an option to pay online or over the phone.

Got a response back indicating he still hadn't gotten it and they don't take credit. I'll just have to resend.

Drove out to get the data and paid $5 for it. After getting home and inspecting it I found out that it was not exactly the requested data. It was a pdf containing ID, NAME, TITLE, SALARY, DEPT, HIRE DATE, TERMINATION DATE. The problem is that it appears that I only received the most recent salary and that the salary field is a mixture of hour rates and yearly rates. I gave Rick a call and clarified the issue and followed it up with an email at his request. The email indicated we want yearly gross annual salary (whatever the w-2 says) and requested some for of structured data.

Got an email back from Rick saying that he will not be producing a csv. I responded indicating that this was okay, although MS 12.03 subd 3.e would suggest that it can be requested in the format that the data is maintained in and that it is maintained in a structured format. In a follow up email he did indicate that he would look into gross salary though.

Finally got this resolved after a couple false starts. I was sent paper copies for 2013, 2014, and 2015, I then requested electronic copies and got it as an excel spreadsheet.
