What will happen in your session?
In my session I will talk about how we, in Balochistan Voices, use the WhatsApp groups to convey our stories to the influential people in Balochistan. These day there is flood of information and dozens of articles are shared on Facebook and Twitter. Therefore influential people like politicians and bureaucrats miss out some important stories. Using a dedicated WhatsApp group we are able to share all our stories with them and they take time and interest in reading them. I will discuss how we use this strategy and how it has helped us in different cases over time. Focus will be on WhatsApp but I will also discuss similar groups in other networks such as Viber, Twitter and Facebook etc.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
The goal of this session is to share our experiences on how we get the attention of influential people in this age where attention span is limited. Participants in our session can learn and share these experiences in their fields as well. Apart from that not only journalists running independent media can use the learnings of this session but also the people working in policy and advocacy. It can provide a new idea to people on how to make sure that news content reaches the specific target audience

I will need a projector to display the WhatsApp group activity on screen. I will bring my own laptop. So, projector is all that I am going to need.

Unfortunately we didn't think this session was quite right for the Digital Inclusion space this year. I'm removing the milestone to allow other spaces to consider your proposal.
@kenyatta1 this is one of the OpenNews curation sessions that we'd really like to have included in the digital inclusion space. is there a way we can talk about making it a better fit for this session? We're going to be working directly with the facilitator, who comes recommended by a space wrangler last year.
