What will happen in your session?

This session is to educate people about the privacy and security threats involved in using the internet-connected devices. IoT is the key to connected living but lacking the effective security protocols. Internet-capable devices in our lives are collecting a staggering amount of data based on our actions that big data will remember forever which is creating pervasive threats to our privacy and security.
Session Outline:

  • Understanding of IoT with BigData
  • Importance of our actions over the internet and privacy concerns
  • IoT threats and Cyberattacks
  • Principles to follow before using an internet-connected device
  • How to secure our collected data over internet

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

Participants will be aware about how their actions are being stored while using the IoT devices in their daily life and as much as the IoT universe grows, so does the security challenge. They will understand the importance of their actions over the internet and IoT related privacy threats. They will be able to weigh the benefits against the risks before they invite internet-connected devices into their lives, and make a conscious, risk-aware decision.

If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.

I will need a projector.
