Sorry to keep opening issues but I'm interested in helping out with this project and github issues seems the best way.
https://github.com/reltuk/Angel Has some commits from a few months back dealing with race conditions and crashes that he didn't seem to bother with a pull request for. I'm not that familiar with the internals yet but it seems like you could take a look and maybe cherry-pick in the ones that make sense.
