15khz mode switches on, then back to 31khz

Left-Empty opened this issue · comments

Greetings,

I have been informed today on the misterfpga forum that tapping the zero key on the numeric pad during the Archimedes' boot sequence would set it to 15khz mode. I tried it and it switched to 15khz mode for a few seconds, then back to a higher Khz mode. Apparently it isn't the expected behaviour. My correspondent on the forum reports the MiST version works as intended on his setup.

I am using direct video output.
Disclaimer: I have never owned an Archimedes, and barely know the computer.

Cheers!

Once booted, if you open up the Apps folder, select "Configure" -> "Display" and Select "Standard" mode instead of "Auto Select" or "VGA" then it works fine in 15khz!

It's just a shame there isn't an .ini config file so we can set it manually on boot.

Damn I'll have to check this out when I can plug it into an HDMI monitor.
Meanwhile, the newest version released today seems to ignore input from the Keypad during startup.

it's not. You just have to quickly press the required key after reset. You can't simply keep it pressed and doing reset. I've tested on shift key during boot. Works.

I've tried multiple times, both with soft or hard reset, with two usb keyboards and an usb keypad, and none of them seem to work here. I'm stumped!

Managed to get it to 15KHz by setting the monitor type to 0 in RiscOS and setting the refresh rate to Variable (default is 60Hz) in the MiSTer OSD menu.

F12-> *configure MonitorType 0

I'm getting a picture via 15khz CRT, but it's split in half with the lhs of the screen on the right, then the rhs of the screen on the left, with a bar in the middle. Anyone else getting this?

You need to know that Archie core due to some limitation in implementation requires vga_scaler to be enabled, or you will get weird uneven pixels on VGA output.

Using Archie v220221 with a 15Khz PVM, I tried "configure MonitorType 0", as suggested by PaulSpek, then reset, but am still not getting a picture. Tried with refresh rate set to "Variable" and "60Hz" but still no luck. See attached photo - at the back is a plasma TV (HDMI) and at the front is PVM (RGB+sync).

The last version known to work with 15KHz is, afaik, v201101.
